If you have been running regular oil for the last 100k+, you will NOT see benefits from switching to synthetic-in fact, you CAN cause more damage by the switch.
Synthetics are thinner than regular oils, and stand up to thermal breakdown better-but when used in a engine that is over 100K mark, you'll actually increase the wear of the engine. I have had 4 mechanics tell me that you are better off if you use synthetics right after the breakin period for your motor.
