considering selling: '57 T-bird
Hope I don't come across as a complete flake, but honestly I'm not sure if my car is for sale or not. I'm mainly seeking input/ advice at this point.
I've got a '57 Tbird, 312 4bl, automatic. The car was fully restored (body off) back in '93 and has about 2800 miles on it since then. It was done top notch but that was 17 years ago so it's not perfect anymore but still a head turner. It was appraised in 2002 at $35,000 by a company recommended by my insurance agent. I honestly don't know if it would be worth more or less than that now; the condition is unchanged but with the economy as it is I really don't know. The car has been in my family since 1969 or '70 and it does have sentimental value; but on the other hand I don't fit in it well and if I sold it I could restore my '72 GMC pickup that I've owned 30 years, plus free up space in my garage and nearly pay off my house. The car is yellow (goldenrod I think it's called?) with a white top and white interior. It has both tops but the hard-top is not correct. (It has no portholes and somebody put those 'landau' bars from a 60's bird on it). This would have been corrected when the restoration was done but my great aunt who owned it at the time liked the landau bars; but it could still be made correct. Any input? has the value of these cars increased any in the last 6 or 7 years? And if I were to advertise what would be the best venue? Thanks for any suggestions! |
