Post vacuum wipers

Some excellent information out here - thanks. I just got a '58 that needs plenty of work. I'm to the point that I'm into the dash and some of the accessories. I read that the hot swap for the wipers is an electric motor from Concourse Parts. Why not the rebuilt vacuum for $100 less?

Yeah, on my '49 Ford, both '51 Pontiacs and a couple of old trucks. If ya live in Illinois and merge on the freeway alot it's a slight problem. If ya live in San Jose, CA and cruise around town it ain't.

Anybody got an answer instead of another question?

Jeff: If you don't have to rely on your wipers, then I think I'd rebuild your Vacuum system. You'll have saved yourself $100.00.
If you have to rely on them, as I do, then $100.00 is pretty cheap for the Safety that you get from the Electric wipers.

Good luck.

From what I've heard, Rain-X works about as well as the vacuum wipers. I just check the weather diligently and don't drive it if there's gonna be any chance of rain. Of course, my '60 convertible has a bad top so the wipers aren't the only issue with rain!

Sorry, I guess that makes you 1 (OldBird) for 4. :D

Wow. I wish I had this much free time.

Thanks boys - I'll be headin' over to a tech forum that provides real answers, not goofy opinions.

Say G'bye.
