Question windshield wiper conversions

Just got a '58 Bird like I had when I got
married in 1958. The wipers give me one wipe
and then freeze, usually in the upright
position. Has anyone installed the electric
wiper conversion and how did it work.
thanks,
Dave

i have a bunch of bird friends that have installed the wiper conversions and they seem to work flawlessly. Some of the older vacum systems just get to difficult to find parts for and or repair. Good luck to your conversion - you gotta have wipers...

Question

Where might one find a wiper conversion? Does it switch to electric or a better vacuum unit ?
Bill

I realize this is an old post, but I just installed a conversion kit. It is a two speed electric motor that replaces the vacuum unit. The switch has been modified to fit the dash and use the stock knob. No perm modifications in case you want to go back to stock. Got mine for about $180 from Concours Parts. Very tricky to put in because the space is so limited. Couldn't have done it if I didn't have the console and glove box out already. The wire diagram was not included in mine, but easily solved with a quick call to vendor. Vendor lady was very nice and apologetic. Very pleased so far.
