The "M" in the VIN indicates that the T Bird came from the Ford factory with the three two barrel carburetors on the 390 engine. Rated at 340 HP. These are rare in this day and age. This engine was installed in hardtops, landaus, convertibles and roadsters. Strange thing: many dealers ordered these cars and did not know what they were getting. As the cars were listed and dealers selected what they wanted to order, the "M" designation was listed before the "Z" (4 barrel) and they only realized what they had ordered when the cars were delivered. A few were converted to "Z" configuration so that they would sell.
