55 Tbird front emblem

My T-bird is now in the final prep stages for paint. New emblems purchased and prepared for install. When looking at the front end it has a slight peak in the middle. The cross flag emblem/crest are flat and don't seem to be curved to lay flush on the front of the car. Is this normal? Do the emblems need to be bent? Does the peak need to be sanded down to make it fit flush? Thanks for any help. It's funny running into a roadblock of such a small piece of the puzzle.
