Engine Clean Up

I just got my new 64 in the garage and the carb has a float fouled or some other issue. It has dump fuel onto the intake manifold and run down the block. What can I use to clean this without disasembling the engine and not scouring/peeling the paint. Anything come to mind?

Thanks,

Mike

I had a similar problem on my 82 T Bird and actually had good luck with Dawn dish washing soap. The real bad areas were tackled with a strong solution of ammonia and water. Just take it slow and carefully rinse often. (forgot to mention using steam with the ammonia solution)
