Crazy incident.

I got my 64 thunderbird running pretty good and decided to take it for a spin to my friends house. On the way back from his house i punched it on wyoming blvd. I never let off and had the needle buried while still accelerating. I was going around 130 and slowed down to 110. The left lane was wide open and the right lane was packed. The light turned red there was no way i could make it before someone started to go. My brakes locked up at 110 i went to the left then right then i spun out to the left at around 80 and slid sideways to a halt about a foot away from a curve. I am so happy my thunderbird is heavy and did not roll lol.

Let me ask you a question - what would have happened if some one in the "heavy packed right lane" decided to pull out into the left lane while you were barreling down the road at 110 mph?

Something would have happened no one has any idea of what would have happened.

IN TENNEESSEE WE HAVE B L A C K ICE ON LOCAL 2 LANE ROADS. ALL I WAS DOING WAS GOING TO RADIOSHACK AT 29 MPH. AND THE TREES AT MY RIGHT SHADED THE SURFACE OF THE SLIGHTLY SNOW DUSTED ROAD SURFACES WHICH WAS ALREADY SALTED BY THE CITY TO MELT THE ICE CONDITION...WELL THE '58 BIRD DRIFTED RIGHT INTO A FLAT COW FIELD INTO THE LEFT ACROSS THE ONCOMING LANE .AFTER STOPPING HARD INTO THE RED CLAY SURFACE I GOT OUT GOT 911 INVOLVED by verison coverage ok cell phone , GOT THE CITY TO RESPOND WITHIN 7 MINUTES AND THEY RE- SALTED THE (AREA) AND SO.. WITH (3 LOCAL POLICE UNITS) WITH FLASHING LITES GOING ....PARKED OFF ROADWAY.. they were TRYING TO WAVE DOWN THE ONCOMING NEXT POOR VICTIMS until the salt took effect later ... WITH ME , (AWAY FROM THE HIWAY WITH NO "CAMERA" left it at home this one time...) I WATCHED FOLKS COME OVER THE HILL ABOVE THEN GO DOWN THE HILL AS I DID AT 20-30 MPH..-AND COME CLOSE TO HITTING MY $31,000.00 INVESTMENT still along side the roadway...in our lovely mud.. .SO Call it luck! it was a nice bright day , sun out , elvis on the newer stereo ,me with thinking i could navigate out of the loss of traction because of some nature event..won,t soon forget it..all cleared off highway all else ok , now washed off ton of clay ...bird fine as it is a real car not like today's jelly bean designs.on that 130 mph deal, most tires have a speed rating on them where they come to a thresh hold and then fly apart and you could live thru that but harm someone else .glad you made it .these cars like the tri-carb corvette i was allowed to ride in during my high school years are impressive at thrusting you forward on a safe highway as i remember , did not seem to be aware of any danger factor just flying along in my friends passenger seat getting close to 80 mph in seconds.!!!!very impressive...older now so just a memory and here i am today wondering how to (keep on doing the quick accelerating from the green lite blast off at 63 yrs.(old paying for12 mpg 352 engine gas consumption) !!true story love this forum , better than bragging about the social security check received each month down at the local mc donalds here in cookeville ,tn. Came from L.A. in 2006..drove it in 4 days today it's 2012 ! country life is slower but not as slow as the traffic back there..just a thought to those thinking of goin country..join a car club where where the participants actually work on there cars they have worked for and paid cash for . but it,s cool if you inherited your ride just don't "store" it . do at least a weekly drive in it! Have fun.

I did pay for my Thunderbird completely. I am getting in closer to having a nice daily driver. Outer drive was the road I was on that before I hit wyoming boulevard is 60 mph kind of like a in town highway. My dad had a 64 mustang hipo 289 and my uncle had a 64 gto tri power.
