Yahoo groups glamorbird forum is a PITA!

I am a GM guy; my apologies to anyone that offends. But I have a weakness for the 67-69 glamorbirds with the suicide doors. So I found a 69 that I like but lets face it I am a novice to Fords. So I am trying to learn all I can about this car before I go look at it, so I can make a potentially smart purchase. So I want to ask owners of these cars about common rust spots to look for, or any weakness the car may have because all cars have thier design flaws. So Yahoo groups has this forum specifically for 67-69 birds. I love this site but lets be honest,.,,for the 67-69 years it is like a gravyard on this site with no activity. So I sign up for this Forum group and the guy who is thew moderator/owner of the group has his own mailing list you must join to be elidgeable to become a group member. So I jump though all of his hoops and he obviously takes his sweet time deciding and or checking his site for new members. Im on a time clock here to go see this car trying to educate myself about it. It has been a week now and this *ss still has not approved my ability to ask questions and or even read other posts. What a PITA!!! so aggravating! the guy should not be allowed to be the sole moderator and owner of the site if he doesnt want to work on it!

I suggest you look at the car first. Weaknesses? Some will say electrical/vacuum systems. Some will say door panels and arm rests. As far as rust goes, again I say "look at the car".

I'm not 100% sure if we are talking about the same group -- but I think this is the "Mailing list" that originated from the Thunderbird Cyber Nest website. Been awhile but I think it's tbird.org.

I've been on their Flairbirds list for well over 15 years. Back in the day it was the best thing going, and a whopping improvement over the Usenet newsgroups that were the standard of the time. Jerry Wotel runs it, and is a great person to meet. However as the years have passed this type of message system has been stuck in a time warp. It has progressed only as servers have kicked out the older messaging systems; it is now in Yahoo Groups.

The problems I've had are not so much the moderation or even the method of messaging, but Yahoo Groups itself. For a long time I've been unable to respond to messages or even place new messages within the system -- the only way I could post was to actually e-mail new messages to a certain Yahoo address. Then one day I could no longer do that. So I'm gone, and apparently not missed. I still receive the daily digest, but it's rather dead -- particularly compared to a few years ago when it was so hot that it had to be broken down into several sections. (When I first joined it was "Little Birds" and "Big Birds." I kinda miss talking to Jerry and a few others, but oh well. If they want to talk to me I'm not hard to find.

I'm here now.

Actually, as an update, my computer crashed and I bought a new one. Suddenly I can post to the Flairbirds list again!

I'd love to see those guys move over here, but I suppose that's up to them. I also frequent forums related to antique radio collecting, and am well aware of the newsgroup rec.antiques.radio+phono. Years after becoming quite obsolete and many internet hosts no longer supporting usenet at all, this group is still very active. Different strokes . . .
