I finally got four that are in excellent shape, and the price was unbeliveable compared to what they are getting for them on ebay.

Beautiful 'Bird!

I'm still on a learning curve on this forum. I've uploaded a picture of my 64; preview it shows up as a thumbnail. In trying to get it from there to here, I finally found an "insert image" option. SO -- I'll try the insert thing.

EDIT: Looks like the thumbnail DID show up, at the bottom of the message.

These are the only images of my car that I have online, that I could attach quickly -- but they're kind of interesting.

Not so much as a business, but as an old radio COLLECTOR, with more old sets around here that I can fit in this place, I decided to have some magnetic signs made. When I display the car in this manner, I'll throw a few vintage sets -- stereo components, record players and such -- in the back seat, along with a tube tester, VTVM, and other goodies. In the front seat I open up a loaded tube caddy. On the dash is literature -- 1964 map, period promos from radio repair shops, and service literature for certain period products. It DOES attract attention!

I got this car when I was 17(a year ago), I deem myself lucky, I bought it from my friend's dad for 800 dollars. Funny enough I thought it was the most god-awful ugliest thing imaginable when I first saw it at their house but after time it slowly began growing on me, so I talked to my friend and he talked to his dad and they sold it to me. I cant wait to finish restoring it.

Your car looks in better shape than mine was in when I first got it.

If you think it's ugly, taking it to a car cruise will change your mind in a hurry! I guarantee you, that car will attract attention -- then clean it up and give it a coat of paint, and it will REALLY attract attention!

Last week I DJ'ed for a Volkswagen show in Clearwater. There were 230 VW's -- and one T-Bird. Guess which car got the most attention?

first T-bird

New here and figured I would start with sharing pictures of my first and newly acquired T-bird. She's a 1967 two door landau.

Nice find!

Seems there are very few of the late 60's-early 70's birds, probably because everyone was told for years that any T-Birds made after 1966 would never be collectible. Uh, why? Some say there was a marketing attitude that changed -- goodbye convertible and hello four-door, some say it was a radical change in styling -- gone is the mean facial look and the rocket-engine look of the sides and taillamps (It's still there but different somehow). I don't know, but those 67 and later models are pretty darned nice. I'd like to see more of them.

Here is our '79 Bird. It is an unrestored original with 95k miles, and is still in very good condition. We are the third owners, and have had it for about a year. My wife uses it as an everyday driver during the warm weather months. It has a 302 V8 and gets about 15 mpg, which isn't bad considering the size of the car.

1979 Bird, Daily Driver for a Decade

My daily driver here in Florida for 10 years, rain or shine, hurricane or calm days; everything works perfect, including the clock. I added the turbine wheels/center caps, deluxe 7 gauge speedo-tachometer cluster, dual exhausts with Flowmasters, 3-core Ford manufactured radiator, dual-snorkled air cleaner for more air and better fuel economy. Wife doesn't like to ride in it or drive it, though she did enjoy the 1978 T-Bird Diamond Jubilee (Polar white, blue vinly top, blue leather interior) I restored last year. Tim; Florida

Hi Tim, your 79 Bird looks very nice! I talked to you via email a couple of months back about some parts for our 79(still looking!). I have a replacement headlight switch that I'm going to install once the weather warms up, hopefully that will fix the problem with the headlight doors staying open all the time.

Burnt Orange

John:

Your 79 Burnt Orange looks remarkably nice for being unrestored. The paint seems to still have a nice lustre. Looks great. I need to tell my wife that your wife actually uses it as a daily driver the in the warm months. WOW!!! The raised white letter tires with hubcaps looks snappy. Nice touch. Is it an Illinois car?

Per your note, what parts were you looking for?
Tim

Tim, thanks for the nice compliments on our Bird! It is actually originally an Indiana car. When we bougt it last year, it came with paperwork detailing pretty much every repair ever done on the car, dating back to the original owner who had the car until 2007. I'm guessing that the orig. owner kept it garaged, and drove it very sparingly(if at all)during the winter. The paint is still exceptionally nice; it does have a little bit of spiderwebbing on the left rear quarter, and some minor rock chips here and there.

The parts that I'm looking for are the left front mudflap(factory style black with Tbird logo), and a tan drivers' side interior door panel(manual windows and locks). I am also considering replacing the rear bumper sometime down the road as ours has a fair amount of pitting on it.

I pulled the Bird into the garage yesterday afternoon and polished it up. Here are some new pics:

John:

Thanks for posting the additional pix of your beautiful Bird. Hard to tell in the previous pix that the bumper has pitting on it. I guess pix don't show everything, eh? I am on the lookout for a parts car down here so as to make parts available to you guys up north in rustville, USA/Canada. There is one in Lakeland, FL, but owner wants $1k for it.

Stay in touch. Tim

Tim, let me know if you get that parts car. Around here parts for 77-79 Birds are next to impossible to find, as most of these cars rusted out years ago and have been crushed. I did find a 79 in a local junkyard last summer and it was burnt orange, too. I was able to salvage the passenger side interior door panel, but unfortunately everything else was pretty much shot.
