IDLE TOO HIGH
i HAVE A 93 T-BIRD WITH THE 302 HO. IT IDLES WAY TO HIGH. IT WILL RUN OUT AT 40 MPH WITHOUT TOUCHING THE GAS. I HAD IT ON A COMPUTR SCAN 3 TIMES IT SAYS NOTHING IS WRONG? IT WILL OVERHEAT IN ABOUT 15 MIN. IF LEFT IDLEING. THE MECHANIC PULLED SOMETHING THAT IS SUPPOSED TO RETARD THE TIMING BUT IT NEVER CHANGED. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
THANKS VINCE. |

If i were you i would double check that timing with that conector out. Checkto see if it sits at 10 BTDC or being 93 you might be a lil diff. If your timing is for sure good, go to the TPS "trottle position sensor" Even though you went trough a scan, it may not have caught it being out of range, or it could have even been in range, in that case look at your idle screw for adjustment. I cant really say seeings how i am not there but thats my best guess......i think. :)
