Post Anybody ever remove or rebuild a C6?

I would appreciate any stories, advice, or words of warning you might have.

I also might have to replace the torque converter, anything would help. Especially how to get the tranny out of the car.

My application is a 78' Lincoln 460/C6.

Thanks

Daywalker

Thumbs up

the C6 is a very basic tranny. mine was the first tranny i had ever rebuilt. i added a B&M shift kit also.
get a good shop manual that has a step by step disassembly/re-assembly, and you should be fine!

good luck!

Ive done both. MAKE SURE OF THE YEAR OF THE TRANS!!!!
There was a case-valvebody-& Clutch size change in the middle of 1976. If you have any questions take the id tag off the accumulator with you when you buy the rebuild kit!
Otherwise, a little trick i use when rebuilding C6's is lay the trans on a clean floor with PLENTY of room, pan up. Then as you dissassemble it lay theparts out in order on the floor as they come out. then rebulid each clutch set at a time.
makes it ALOT less intimidating!

Thanks guys. Took a vacation did ya? :D
Turned out the shuddering was a ujoint in the driveshaft. Tranny held up fine. Now I think I have a motor mount loose as the car shudders even in park when I rev the motor. It also shudders in all gear and low rpm. Shudders horribly. Dash rattles. It was doing fine in the summer but this developed. I also bought a 71' Mach 1 this summer. Something about Fords....

How are you guys doing?
