Hello all - Just found the Thunderbird Forum today and me thinks it's a good thing! I've been wanting to own a 1977 - 1979 Thunderbird since they first came out and (with a bit of luck) it looks like that dream may soon come true. I'm looking at purchasing a 1978 Town Landau that is Polar White with blue leather interior. The car has 46,000 original miles and (with the exception of the leather seating surfaces) (the seat backs are fine) the car is in terrific shape. Any guess on a rough market value? He's asking $5,500.00 for it. Oh! I forgot to mention - it has factory t-tops. Since the car is in Florida, and I'm in California, what's the best (meaning cheapest) way to get the car out here? I'm hoping I will be able to purchase the car - I think it will look great sitting next to my 1967 Fordor Landau. Thanks in advance - Gregg

I don't know about the cheapest way to get it home, but in my opinion the best way would be to check it out completely thru a 3rd party, like an appraiser. then if it passes fly out to it ONE WAY. and drive that baby back home!

:) I am only going to offer my opinion here and that is all - I think your 'find' would be a better find for you of the price was about $4500 - but if this is the car you hav eot have then you will pay what it takes for you to get it. Shipping a car from / to will cost you about $1200 - figure this into the total cost of the car whan you buy it. You may want to offer the seller the $5500 if they pay for shipping or about $4500 if you need to pay for shipping. The intrinsic value of the car to the seller has long passed - and my guess would be that there is not a long line of buyers waiting in line for that particular model year. Either way - welcome and best of luck in your decision. :p
