I have a 1978 Tbird that is literally that car you've heard about where the little old lady only drives it to church on Sundays. Except she drove it to the grocery and the hair dresser's, too. It has 91K on it and the plush seats have been covered with clear plastic since 1980. I'm in Louisville, Kentucky. How do I assess the value? What is it worth?

Per your question, are you sure that the odometer hasn't rolled over once, so that the real mileage is 191,000? This is often the case with our 1977-79 Birds. What does the title read? From the looks of the rust over much of the vehicle and the "unpopularity" of these Birds, and the lack of economy in driving these Birds, you might get $500-1000.00.. Nice ones of e-bay, no rust, well-cared for, beautiful in appearance, aren't bringing much. Like it or not, that's the way it is for our Birds, at least for the present time. No offense meant here at all. I drive a beautiful, restored 79 Bird as a daily driver--but would only bring $2-3k Max. Hope this helps. Tim, Florida

Thanks, Tim! Absolutely no offense taken and I appreciate your quick response.

The little old lady mentioned is my Grandma who, at 94 years young, has wisely decided to quit driving. She has given the car to me to sell. So, since I've been around this car since it was new, I can safely say that the 91K are original miles.

The car has been garage kept since it was new. When I took these photos I was shocked at all the rust. My guess is that winter driving along salted roads has done this. Note to self: when the weather warms up, ALWAYS rinse off a car that has been on a salted roadway.

When I was a teenager, I had a 1970 Olds Cutlass SX with a 455 in it. Fuel was cheap then but I can still remember looking at this 351 with a bit of jealousy because it got better gas mileage. My, how things have changed.

Thanks again for your info!
Dave
