Lightbulb Pics of recently finished Bird

Here are a few pics of the 1979 T-Bird that I've just finished, inside and out. Basically, it now looks like it did when it rolled off the assembly line in Chicago. Car was purchased at Grant Ford here in Pinellas County, Florida and has stayed here its entire life. It's chamois poly in paint.

It's an F Code, 302-2v with the FMX transmission. Car has 82,000 original miles. Drives straight and true.

A few changes: new dual exhaust system from the manifolds all the way back top the tips. Includes Flowmasters. Sounds beautiful.

Retrofitted to R-134a. Added Turbine Wheels and Center Caps.

I put a double-snorkeled air cleaner in place of the factory set-up for increased fuel mileage. Increased about 3 mpg. Took off the emissions control equipment, including the belt. This also improved fuel economy and allowed me to drop down to 89 octane gasoline (from 93).

More Power?

Removing the emissions control equipment has increased fuel economy and allowed me to use 89 octane at the pump, but I don't think it has added any power. Wish it did. Dual exhaust has added a little power.

The 302 is sluggish off the line as it is, especially with the FMX transmission shifting so quickly into second gear (in my opinion, way too early).
