67 Tbird Tudor Hardtop ??

Hello all. I am new to the site and to Tbirds so bear with me. I have a couple questions about my car that I really don't want to know the answer to because I am afraid it is going to cost me some big bucks to fix but I need to know anyways so here it goes.

1. The car when drivin more than 20 minutes pushes the coolant out of the radiator into the overflow canister and it seems like it is not over heating but it is causeing presure to be built up in the coolant system. I am thinking it is a head gasket problem but I was just wondering if anything else could be causing that situation? The motor is the 390.

2. How much antifreeze should be in the radiator? I know dumb question

3. The blower motor is not working on the car. Does anyone know where I can pick up the relay for the blower motor?

Thank you in advance for the help.
Gary

This is what I was told by the previous owner so I can not say for sure but I looked at it and it looks pretty beat up. The previous owner disconected it and I reconected it and nothing happened. But it's not to say it isn't another problem because I am not real familiar with these cars yet.

Jeepracer: Can you send pictures of the relay or the location under the hood? [email protected]

Yeah I can take a picture of it tonight. I am begining to think that the previous owner knew less than I do about t-birds. It is going into the shop to get new head gaskets this weekend, and while I am at it I am having the heads re built

There's no 'relay' for the blower motor, but there is a resistor, which is probably what you are referring to. It's mounted on front of the climate case cover, it's a red thing with a 3-prong connector.

These do go bad, and are often the culprit if you have no blower motor or no speeds. Turn your blower motor on and check for power at the connector for the underhood resistor. If you have power and no blower motor, you either have a bad resistor or bad motor.

To test your motor, you'll have to get under the passenger side dash and jump power directly to the blower and see if you get any motor action.

If the latter is the case, I will forewarn you, pulling and replacing the blower motor is a bear. Despite what the shop manual says, you're probably going to have to pull the hood off, and passenger-side hood hinge, and at least the inner fender just to get access to pull the right side of the climate case off. But what you will most likely find there is that the old motor is rusted to the firewall (water condensation from the evaporator core.) Just think ahead...fix all of it while you are in there cause you never want to have to go back in there to fix it again.

Good Luck.
