Post 64 Speedometer Face

Can someone tell me how to approach restoring my speedometer face. The numbers seem like they should be brighter. I assume they were painted at one point, but mine are black.
Should I just lightly brush white paint on the face of the raised numbers, or is there more to it than that?
Thanks
Bob

I had the same problem. I got some chrome model paint and a small brush and brushed the paint on carefully. The paint will only adhere to the raised numbers---came out great much to my surprise.

I agree with joe, i did the same thing,go to a hobby shop and get a real fine camel hair brush for about 5 buck's and a good light and it will look 10 times better! :D

The speedomoeter numbers should be silver -- not white. I know a couple of folks who've bought a "silver paint marker" at a hobby shop and restored the number faces that way. That's what I intend to try...and it sounds easier and more precise than using a small paintbrush. Apparently, faded speedometer numbers are a common problem on these cars.

The Testors silver paint marker you get at the hobby shop worked great. Pretty foolproof and all of $4.00.
Thanks, guys.
