Angry engine vibration

I have a 65' with 101K on the lower end and a valve job done 100 mi ago. It has sat for 5 years indoors. I have a vibration at idle and under load. It goes away when coasting. The motor mounts appear fine and I've ordered a trans mount because it's leaking trans fluid and I wanted to take care of it when I replace the seals. I am thinking it's the harmonic balancer. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply,
I've put 2 new ones in since I got the car. 1 when I first brought it home and another when I put in a Petronix ignition. The vibration has always been there. It's not the tranny as it does this both in nuetral and in gear. Put a new mount in as well just for drill. Motor mounts are fine after even closer inspection. They appear to have been replace recently. I'm realy convinced it's in the front of the engine somewhere. I didn't mention that I've heard a metalic(somewhat) rattle that sounds like pully noise at idle on a couple occasions. Sounded like it was coming from the power steering pump though. I was thinking to take the belts loose and check pully's and their bearing's for starters. Does anyone know a way to check the harmonic balancer while it's on the car?

Thanks again, Mark.

Howdy,
I replaced the trans/motor mount and it made the vibration worse. I dicovered a little movement in the clutch fan so I'm going to order a "clutch kit" from Larry's and start there. If that doesn't get it I figured I pull the radiator, have it boiled out. Once that all is out of the way I'll look at the harmonic balancer and the other pulley's and maybe the timing chain as well since the cars pretty high mileage. I guess it could be anything since the car has sat so long. Won't hurt to have a look at all that regardless.

Mark

Quick check: Put the timing light on each spark plug wire on each cylinder to see if the strobe flash shows erratic flashing on any of the cylinders.

Well I guess I'm on track now. Turns out all the belts are loose. I feel like an idiot. The alternator is the loosest and it's down low but all the belts are at the max adjust stop, and loose. Turns out that they are the wrong belts as well. Started squiling right after I found them. (it lives)They looked "as new" so I didn't pay much attention. I'll try the timing light trick as well. After I get the stinkin' belts on correctly!
Humbly, Mark
