Convertible top problem

My top would not open, deck locks would click in the lock ( top up) position of the switch, not a peep in the top down. After some difficulty in getting the tonnau cover out from under the top mechanism, and the rear seat out, I found the unlock relay wiring plug was melted. After some studying I was able to jump the wires to unlock the deck, and then the trunk would open. While then closing the deck, part way down it began to sort of stumble in it's operation, and the lock screws began to rotate. I'm thinking these should not be operating until it gets nearly closed. There must be a switch that changes the operation from closing to locking. I see a switch located on the right side lock screw base. Could that be the issue? Looking for a download of the top manual, and a shop manual if anyone has a link. Barring that I'll have to do some shopping. Certainly would appreciate any insight on the issue. Thanks. Also can I buy the rubber connector for these relays to splice into the existing wires? Or do I just strip away the melted rubber and connect the wires to the relay? Thanks, Joe.
