Starter?
I've been working on my 65 (with a 66 engine) and everything seems to work except when I try to start it the starter won't quit. I turn off the key and it still keeps running.......finally had to pull off the battery cable as the wires started smoking! I had put in a new relay and battery. Before I buy a starter can someone tell me if it's something else. Thanks. E-mail me direct if you want..........I'm anxious to get this bird flying!

The starter has a control unit that sets on top of the starter. It engages the starter when you turn the key to start and has a return spring that disengages it when you go to run position. This spring may be defective or your switch might faulty. I would check the starter first.
