You have a cruise-o-matic or a C-6 depending on date car was built. Cruise-o-matic the bell housing is separate from the cast iron trans and the fill tube goes in the trans pan. C-6 is one piece aluminium. fill tube goes in case itself. also shape of trans pan is different

That’s a bummer that means its not the original transmission. Going by the oil pan on the bottom its definitely a C4 or a C5 it has an 11 bolt square pan with a little bump out towards the front and a bolt on bell housing. When I bought it had a 302 not the 390 it came with from the factory. The guy I bought it from said it was still the original trans but it looks like he was wrong. do you know any way to tell a C4 from a C5?
