standard vs high volume oil pump

This is a discussion on standard vs high volume oil pump within the Flair Birds [1964-1966] forums, part of the Thunderbird Model Years category; I'm rebuilding my 390. Should I consider a high volume oil pump. Thanks, John...

Stock motor, stock pump. But consider the restricters in the heads.

Thumbs up

I'm finishing up a driveline overhaul on my '64 and opted for the high-volume oil pump. Haven't got it back in the car yet, so can't say for sure it's the way to go, but that's what my engine builder recommended.
