1964 T-bird Need Help Getting Gauge Cluster Off
HELLO,
SO I WAS TRYING TO REPLACE THE LIGHT BULBS ON MY SPEEDOMETER AND ALSO REPLACE THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR. I HAVE REMOVED EVERY BOLT IN SIGHT AND STILL CANT GET IT OFF. THE SHOP MANUAL DOES NOT REALLY HAVE CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS HOW TO REMOVE THE CLUSTER. ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN GET A DIAGRAM OR INSTRUCTIONS? THANKS JERRY |

A word of caution, before you get any further into the removal, cover the steering column to avoid getting it scratched when you remove the cluster.
Now, if you are having a problem removing it, you may have overlooked something. This is a pretty straight forward job. First thing you need to do before anything else is, undo the steering column, and let it drop as low as it will go. You will also have to remove the two panels just below the steering column in order to get the column to drop. There are two bolts that attach the column. Once that is lowered, with all fasteners(including the speedometer cable))disconnected, you should be able to remove the cluster. If you are still having a problem removing it, post again. Bob.
