1966 trunk lock lid hinge pin popping out

Good afternoon,

One side of my hinge pin keeps coming out of the slot. There is just not enough crimped-over material to hold it in place. Anyone have a solution to hold in the pin besides trying to bend whatever material is left to capture the pin, or is that the solution? Thanks.

You might try some adhesive...

Hi Harley,

You know..sometimes I overlook the obvious. You are correct. It would be okay if the pin is fixed to the cover on one side and rotates with the cover. Heck, both sides can be fixed to the cover since it does not rotate there, but in the loose holes of the base. Thanks Harley.

I waited so long to re-install the decorative, painted lid insert, which I recently painted (I found it inside of the car when I bought the car and put it aside because I did not know what it was at first), for fear it may fly off of the vehicle due to the hinge pin issue. Now I can wrap that up.
