Bob you loosen the antenna on the top of the fender its like a toggle bolt under the fender. flip it vertical to remove it. But first unplug it from the radio and tape a cord on it securely. when you pull it through you can then tape the cord onto the new wire and pull it back. Do it easy and you don't have take the fender well down.

Boater is telling you how to replace an aftermarket antenna. If you have the Ford factory antenna, you remove the nut on top,
whether your antenna is on the fender or quarter panel (I guess yours is on the quarter panel)then remove the antenna from the bottom. The inner fender for front mounted antenna does need to be removed. You will remove the cable with the antenna, meaning you will need to remove the console side panel to unplug the antenna lead from the radio. Do you already have your replacement antenna?

Thanks fordman,
Yes, my antenna is on the front right fender. My mistake. So I guess my question is if I have to get at the underside of the base, what do I have to remove to get to it? The outer fender? Inner fender? Dash Panel? I can't find any detail in the shop manual or the electrical manual. Getting behind the radio through the console is easy, I just can't figure out how to get to the base. I don't have the replacement yet. Any suggestions? I'd kind of like something that is retractable (probably manually) so that I don't have to unscrew the mast whenever I throw the cover on... Thanks guys. Bob

Right, remove the fender splash shield and remove the antenna nut and stanchion assembly from the top of the fender, then remove the antenna.
