Over the last few month's i have been restoring/building a 66' t bird ..body/int/motor the whole works! Well it is finally up&running (sounds great!) and i only have a few smaller things to do on it now. I just wanted to take a minute and say THANKS to someone on this site that has been a HUGE help to me. Everyone that has awnsered my questions have been a help so thanks to everyone that has.

But Joe Vandatta i just wanted to say to you...thank you very much for ALL the help you have given me. I cant tell you how nice it is to have someone with as much knowledge as you at my desposale for awnsers to my questions! I have fixed all the probs i had with this new motor and the car runs great joe! i just have to hook up the new fuel gauge tommorow,wash/wax it and it will be at the Woodward dream cruise.

Thank you very much joe...i still have to get the picture's devolped but i would love to show it to you. If you would like to see it send me you're e-mail and i'll send you a few pic's of her. Unless there is a way to post pic's on this site(i dont know).

Hey joe,yep thats the right email but i'm sure you heard about the power outage we had out here on the eastside, well i just happen to live on the edge of the outage and just got power back late friday night. But i'm back(electricity is good ;) )
She runs great but i still have a couple of little problems. The one is the temp and i did as you said and after 5mins i can spin the fan with one finger pretty easily so i think the clutch is shot. The other is a problem with the battary dying. Two new batt's and two new alt's later so i think the problem is a short somwhere in the wiring. Any tips on how to find a short? Electric is one area that i really am lost in a car.
It's good to be back, started getting pretty boring sittin in the dark eatin junk food and drinkin warm pop!..lol

My '65 has a similar problem, Woody. I can't seem to hold a charge in the battery but the amp guage appears to be reading that things are charged. The guage only moves a tiny bit to one side or the other from center so maybe it's not really working. I changed the voltage regulator but that didn't help so maybe the alternator is shot. I don't have a guage to test it.....anyone know how to check to see if it's shot?

The age old trick to test alternators: with engine running, remove battery cable - if it continues to run, alternator is charging.
