seats

I have a 1966 Thunderbird convertible and I am in the process of restoring it, well was until it got so hot. Anyway, I amassed a collection of seven seats and don't know for sure which seat is for the 1966. Two of the seats have a Thunderbird on the cover and I am thinking that they may be the seats that I need to keep, but not sure.

I am taking all of the seats apart to find the best seat so I can sandblast and paint the frame of the seat. Also, the removable rails that go through the floor, there seems to be a difference in some model years, does this make any difference?

I forgot to add. The foam seat cushions seem to be in pretty good shape, they are not dry and falling apart. Is there any difference in the foam seat cusions between the years of 1964-66?

I flipped through the Tbird Restoration Guide and didn't see anything specific for differences. That's not to say there aren't, I just didn't see anything in the book.

I dug through the book a bit more. If you find your car's VIN from the body tag on the driver's door, you can figure what kind of seats were in your car when it rolled off of the Wixom line. For example, the "trim" number on my 65 reads "55" which means my car had seats with head rests (the first 5) and vinyl red interior (second 5).

Let me know what the two digits are under the "trim" section of your body tag and I'll help you figure out what seats were original.

As far as the details, such as the trim pieces and whether it had power seats etc, I don't know...
