1966 landau wiring question

Looking for help
Checking shop manual illustrations show gas tank wiring from sender as only 1 wire to ground and 1 wire to main disconnect colour to disconnect - yellow white.
I have 2 wires which are yellow black srtipe to disconnect and 1 green black stripe to ground.
Also checked my Osborn manual.
Reason for post gas gauge not working, new tank & new sender gauge is good
I also replaced the constant voltage regulator went with modern update.

Your message seems to indicate that you have looked at the wiring diagram only and not the parts on the car. The wiring diagram is for vehicles without low fuel warning. Do you have three wires going to the sender and does the sender have three prongs for the plug to go onto? Is your car equipped with low fuel warning system? Info, please.

Connector at sender is 3 prong, wires in trunk are what I was describing. Yes the car has Low Fuel warning no bulb in it right now, overhead console
I thought all Landaus had Low fuel warning

Maybe I'm just not understanding. From original message: "2 wires which are yellow black stripe" and "1 green black stripe". Is that 3 wires? From second message "Connector at sender is 3 prong". Should I be seeing a problem here?

Total 3 wires as described in first post, Thanx Harley.
"2 wires which are yellow black stripe" plus "1 green black stripe".
Seems with a three prong plug there should be three wires it only makes sense,
As to should you be seeing a problem here, I do not know that is why I posted the question. Does anyone know where I might order schematics for low fuel warning circuit.

Three wires going to the fuel sender unit. One is ground; one is fuel gauge; one is low fuel warning relay. I'm supposing everything hooks up OK. If you ground the lead from the fuel gauge, the gauge will read FULL.

On my Town Landau I also replaced the sender (the one with the Low Fuel indicator). The variable resistor on the sender varies from 10-80 Ohms depending on the position of the wiper. 10 Ohms would mean maximum current and full tank (maximum meter deflection). 80 would mean minimum current and empty tank (minimum meter deflection). Make sure your sender reads from 10-80 (use a resistance meter - a DMM) so you know you have the correct one. Also, it may be possibly that you are plugging the connector on rotated so the corrected terminals are not contacting the correct sensors in the sender. I am not sure that is possibly but when I was under my car it was a bit of a pain to see the correct orientation of the three female terminals in the black boot. Do what Harley said, ground the meter to get full deflection - this is a good test. You can do this in the trunk by unplugging the harness.

I found my problem so I thought I would post as I think this is a little unusual.

When tracing overhead console warning lights discovered the unknown wire colour for 520 its violet seat belt light no record in service manual.
Anyway my problem was at the seat belt connector at floor drivers side corrosion at connector, cleaned reconnected, wala gas gauge works.

Good info in this thread. My gauge and low light do not work either. I plugged a known good unit to the sending unit harness and the gauge still didn't budge. Looks like I need to check the trunk and the seat belt area connections next.

Great info here, and at the risk of asking a stupid question since I'm chasing the problem... I don't see any wires on the seat belts on my '66 Town Landau. I thought the seat belt light just came on for a few seconds at start-up as a reminder without the high tech tattletale stuff like we have today. Was this an optional kit or am I just not seeing the wires? Thanks in advance.

The seat belt warning light comes on for 15 seconds and then is extinguished by a bi-metalic switch. No wires to the seat belt! (Talking 66 Landau here.)

On my 66 Landau on the seat belt retractor on floor by drivers door there is a connection, the seat belt light on the overhead console does not turn off unless the the belts are buckled.

According to some other information I found it looks like they changed the system during the '66 model year. Early on they had the electrical connection at the retractor to "remind" you to fasten your belt until it detected the belt was latched (well, pulled out anyway...) Apparently customers weren't real happy with the big brother approach and a running change was implemented that deleted the switches and went to the timer system so the light comes on for a few seconds at start-up then goes out regardless of belt position. So, if you have a '66 you could have either system depending on when it was built.
