Removing Radio Question

Hi folks,

My original stock 1965 AM radio just recently died and I need to remove it to have it rebuilt. I have never done this before and I wanted to know if anyone can give me some pointers on how best to do this. It is a '65 bird.

Thanks in advance,

John

Easy enough to do. Remove the knobs and retaining nuts. Remove both console side panels. Unplug the wiring and the antenna lead. Remove a supporting brace on each side and pull the radio out.

Ok I know this is a silly question so bare with me, but where are the console side panels and how do I remove them?

The console is between the front seats with the window switches (if you have power windows) and the seat belt warning light. The side panels are above the carpet and go forward from the seats toward the firewall under the dash. The stainless steel trim above the carpet is secured by screws and needs to be removed to get the panels off. There will be screws holding the panels in place.
