Speedometer and gauges dont work.

I have a 1964 thunderbird that none of the gauges but oil and amp work. I changed the constant voltage regulator and that fixed the oil gauge. The oil gauge goes all the way up to H. My fuel gauge lifts off of E just slightly. When tested with power at the other end it shot all the way up. My temperature gauge doesnt work at all. The speedometer doesnt work and this car has cruise control. I replaced the top speedometer cable but not the bottom yet. I just need to know all the possible and most likely problems with my gauges, so i dont throw hundreds of dollars at it.

I would try the sender in the gas tank. I replaced one on my 60 tbird and you would not believe how bad a shape it was in. I have not had trouble with my '64 tbird yet but if I do I will start with the sender in the tank.

The problem might be the float in the fuel tank. There's one on Ebay right now..

When I got my '66 Tbird the fuel and temp gauge did not work. Replacing both sending units solved this problem for me.

Previous owner had replaced the sender in my 64 with a 3 wire sender and cut off 1 prong to match the plug. Pull the sender and Ohm it out. 10 Ohms full 70
empty. Check the float in a bucket of water.
