Trim Sealant & Clips
I finally got my 66 Town Hardtop back from paint jail and am starting to put the pieces back on and have a couple of questions on how best to proceed with a couple of parts.
The beltline trim had some black sealer around the holes where it bolted through to the inside. I want to make sure it doesn’t leak in the future. Pulling the back seat out of the car isn’t something I want to get good at. Someone suggested auto body seam sealer And does anyone know how to reuse the clips for the side trim molding? They seemed to have had some kind of adhesive holding them in and sealing the holes. Thanks |

First clean all the old sealer off. Go to a window/glass/paint supply place and get the glass bedding rubber that comes in a flat roll, it is a rope wound up with waxed paper between the layers. Use small portions on each clip on the outside and under any nuts on the inside of the car. If any oozes out from under the trim a quick wipe with a gas soaked rag cleans it off.
