Post DISTRB GEAR

Joe & Cannedbird...thanks for the advise in my other post but i have a question and i cant figure it out. I decided to pre oil my motor, like cannedbird said its just free insurance so i figured i'd do it,so i am to the point of dropping in the distrb. i took my "old" one and placed it in a vise holding the cam gear to knock the pins out so i can get the gear off and use it to pre oil, well the pins came out and i beat the fire out of the gear but it wont budge....am i missing somthing here or is it just that stuck on the shaft? i have a mallory for the new one so i'm not worried about damaging the old one.

woody :p ;)

Woody,
The gear has to be pressed off with an appropriate fixture --nasty break Woody.

Woody,
I am lucky, I know a fella down the sreet that has a shade tree mechanic type shop so whenever I run into that sort of problem I can go to him.
Do you have one around Woodward?
Joe

joe, i dont deal with shops or garages that much anymore because every since i was about 17 i have done all my own wrenching so since the local shops dont know me i dont know if they would do it fast or charge me or not, but there is a parts store that i go to down the street where the guys know me real well and they sell shop tools(gear puller :D )and they pulled the power steering pulley off for me last summer while i waited, that way i didnt have to buy the puller it was like $40-50 for it....so i'll run down there in the morning and see if they will pull it off for me,thanks for the idea i didnt even think of that must'a been out in the sun to long workin on the car today ;) the new motor's lookin good...hope it run's as good as it looks.

I know what you mean, I have done the same thing, starting with a 31 Model A Ford -yeah, I'm that old.
Good luck, I'm anxious to hear how she runs.
