Flooding after shutting off - 390ci?
New to the big block Fords with my new 65 2-Door Hardtop. Both I and the fellow I bought it from are good with a wrench but neither of us are pros.
The carb was professionally cleaned and rebuilt before I bought the car and it starts, idles and does everything perfectly except after shutting off after a long run. I can see clearly down the throat that fuel is being either siphoned or in some other way admitted to the venturis. The result is a flooded carb when I go to restart. It's not a huge issue but would like to know if there were chronic issues with the carbs on these 390s that Ford may have had a fix for later on? Thanks. Make sure your primary and secondary linkages are adjusted properly, So there closed completely when you shut down. You should check float levels in carb wet, Spacer between carb and manifold should be there. Make sure fuel lines are away from block andf water pump so they don't absorb extra heat
