Fe Leaks

I have two problems, I'm requesting a little advice:
1-I have trans fluid dripping from the front of the bell housing. There is a little hole at the bottom of the front plate and trans fluid drips from there.
2-antifreeze is leaking somewhere. I saw it on the cross bar under the trans. I'm wondering if this could be a freeze plug?

Any advice would be appreciated. The engine is a ford FE, believed to be a 428 with a C6. Thanks.

as for tranny, possibly the front pump seal or the converter I believe has a bolt for drainage. I would clean what u can and rotate the engine by hand while someone watches to see if you see a bolt on the torque coverter..let sit and see where the leak comes from.

as for the antifreeze, same thing...clean and follow the trace up to the leak. depending on the engine history, change them out. they're not hard at all to replace if them manifolds were not in place.

Can't say much more without any other input/seeing the issue. good luck!

Not too many places that the trany could leak from. Coolent leak could be freeze plugs but I've seen the pump to intake hose leak and run down the block and under. Hard to see. Some auto parts stores loan testing tools. Get a radiator pressure tester, fill it with coolent, and put the system under pressure. That will help find the leak.

If it is the freeze plugs pull the old ones before you drive the new ones in otherwise you just add contamination to your cooling system Then they end up looking like this that I pulled out of an engine I bought in Washington.

You KNOW someone will blow up a poster size picture of Darrellincere's hand for their shop! ....Ok, maybe not.

Pressurizing the system is a good idea to check for leaks. I'll clean up the engine then do that. I see there is coolant around the front of the engine. I don't think it is leaking at the hoses. Maybe the coolant I'm seeing under the car is merely coolant running down from a leaky water pump and even blowing back as far as the crossmember. Just thinking and typing.

Seriously, thanks for all your comments and keep them coming.

I'll have to figure out how to resize them. The pictures do turn out quite large.

I'm guessing you have checked the short hose from the water pump to the intake manifold...

Yes, I looked over the shorty hose, but can't say what leaks. I'll pressure test tonight.

Guess what? I hooked up the tester, pressurized it to about 17 lbs, and it started leaking from......the bottom of the overflow! It was dripping right on the top of the water pump. And to think I almost took the water pump out.

I ran a hose from the overflow tube down past the water pump and in hangs just low enough to drip straight on the ground.

Buy and overflow bottle! put in under the fenderwell (under battery area)...get one from ur local auto..napa...etc. just unbolt one of your bumper brackets some and slide in the overflow bottle...save some coolant.

glad you figured it out.
