64 Hood Spring installation

Hi, when I opened my hood, bang, there goes my hood spring on drivers side! The retaining mechanism popped a large rivet, letting go of the spring. I've repaired and all is good, but for one thing. Is there an easy method to get the spring back on the mechanism? Thank you.
