novice to t-bird

Hi all!

I.m new to T-Birds just got a 64 landau. The exhaust maniflod leaks drivers side. Have heard easier to remove head and manifold in one piece, what do you think. As you know space quite limited. The car is a air conditioned unit
if that make a differance.

Also all my power window in-op I've checked breaker and switches they seam
ok, dont' know where the relay is.

All infor would be gratefull.

thanks

From your later post I guess you figured out the relay is on the firewall slighly towards the passenger side. i have pulled the Driver's side manifold, not fun but doable.. i soaked the bolts with liquid wrench for a couple days and every so often tapped the bolts. i had the car two feet off the ground so it was easy to get up under I went into it thinging I will break off at least on of the ears but they all survived. Now days they have reproduction manifolds and correct bolts/washers so no worries on parts. If you break a bolt then you just might have to pull the intake and head, but worth a try first, you are really no worse off if you were going to pull the intake and head to begin with...

Worst comes to worse go to an exhaust shop and pay them to remove the manifold. cost should be around $100.

Welcome to the FE...I must have spent close to 40 hours fixing leaking mainfolds, mainly the drivers side.Replacing the gasket can be done in place and having done it a dozen times till i worked out why it was doing it. put the car on ramps as half the bolts are accessable from underneath easier than from the top.
If the old tin gasket has worn a groove in the manifold you will have to remove one of the engine mount bolts and jack to engine up to get it out and faced
In place i used a folded sanding disc to remove the old gasket material checking with my fingers to make sure it was all gone ( you cant see anything so let your fingers do the lookin).
Copper gasket sealer works the best on composite gaskets, and retorque the bolts after the engine has been run.
If it blows it again get the timing checked, my distributer needed to be rebuilt and recurved now shes as quiet as big block powered mouse..
