66' Coil Springs

I've got the new coil springs for my 66' T Bird and know they are tough to wrestle in. Any one have a procedure for de and reinstall on this? I took an old pair out of a parts car of the same year n it was a bear. Got to be an easier way. Safety is a factor I hold dear. Thanks for your help. I will also search it on this site.

I remove them by cutting with a gas torch. To install, you need a spring compressor - a REALLY good one. Pull the spring up to the top of the spring/shock tower until you can install the upper control arm. It's best to compress the spring from the top and position yourself so you will not be hit by the spring if the spring compressor fails. Be sure your insurance is paid up! Keep other people out of the way.

Thanks for the info. Have done them on many other cars, but these suckers are like truck or rear cargo springs! Serious stuff. lol I just heard from a few sources that they were a challenge. What brand spring compressor did you use. I have a standard Liyle set. I was told I'd need something heavier.
