Your gas pedal (foot feed) was originally screwed to the floor with two screws where ypu now have two holes. A new gas pedal would be in order. Larry's gets $51.97 for one.
Maybe good used? |

thank you guys for the input. I noticed the bottom of the pedal is kindo shot BUT could be held with some washers for the time being.
my main concern is the TOP of the pedal...is there something that is supposed to be attached to the pedal in order for the linkage to "roll" on when "pressing down on the gas" ? thx again. |

The hinge on the pedal should be ridgid so when you press it does not go side to side' It just rides on the roller. Also the venders sell a generic replacement real cheap but it does not have the fancy metal on it, If it don't matter to you. How about your floor where it screws down. Is that solid?

Got the gas pedal. Back to square 1. Yes, the pedal mount was shot. Now, at the top of this pedal is retainer pin. My "roller" on the throttle bar to attach the pedal does not have a mean to attach it (a hole to pass/attach the retainer pin from gas pedal)... How is this roller attached to the gas pedal?

so, the retainer pin lies under the roller? I'm just confused on a simple thing like this because I know some old mercury's have the gas pedal attached to the linkage's roller with a retainer... anyone have a pic of the pedal installed? PLEASE!!! (Not yelling...more like almost begging lol.)

There are two petals linkages, one with the roller on the end of the linkage and one that is just a smooth curved metal end. The petal just pushes against either the roller or the smooth end, nothing on the back if the petal is needed - just rubber. If when you press the petal down the linkage slips out to the side of the petal one of two things is going on first petal mounted in the wrong spot - you mentioned all new floors - maybe it is off a bit??? Nest but more likely is the bracket that holds the linkage to the firewall is loose or so worn there is side to side play. Not too hard to locate and test from the engine side of the firewall.
Hope this helps- Cheers! |
