Steering Column Cover Issue

Hello all. I need some insight:
I have the manual for the car btw... still confused
issue:
I swing the steering wheel over
the steering wheel column cover (the 3-4 piece part that swings over and covers the hole on the dash) will not pull up and cover the hole.

I notice under the dash there are two holes for bolts about 12" apart from each other. The manual shows some of the items that make the cover "pull up" and apparently the cover has 2 "ears" that connect by a pin...

does anyone have a pic or can take one showing the bracket that has this pin please? I have looked everywhere to see how to bolt the parts and have the cover operational. I have built the car from the ground-up...but when I purchased the car I received a "car-in-a-box) that I had to rebuild and also put the interior together.

some help PLEASE!!! Thanks all

Don't know what you mean by pull up? They just pull side ways to cover hole. Where is the space?

Maybe you could post a pic of the where the gap is. Maybe there is something missing or assembled wrong

lol. I don't have a gap. I am missing a part... I am missing the part that holds the cover plate in place when you move the column from left to right...I guess looking from under, the cover plate would have 2 "ears" that are connected by a pin in place...I have nothing but the cover plate bolted to the column itself...I'll attempt a pic if this is unclear.
