Post Power steering pump

I have a problem with my 64 T-Bird powersteering pump. The pump is making an awful sound, sounds like the bearings are shot because of misalignment of the belts. Is their a rebuild kit? I pulled it apart and found there is no bearing or it is a split sleave bearing. Does anyone have any ideas. Thanks for the advice. Sportsnutim1 [email protected] null

Your best bet is to get a new (rebuilt) pump. They are available at several suppliers.

PS; Since you are in Belfast, the nearest supplier would be The Bird Nest in Portland, Or. 800-232-6378 or go to www.tbirdparts.com Joe

Cool

For many years Ford sold a power steering rebuild kit for the 64 Tbird through their dealerships. Longtime Ford dealers can often locate old NOS parts in their warehouse -- including this rebuild kit. One such dealer that found the rebuild kit for me (and another guy) is Forest Lake Ford in Forest Lake, MN. The kit cost $9.00 and they shipped it to me in Texas in 4 days. Call (651) 464-4600 and ask for the parts dept. Without the part number, they'll have to look it up on microfilm and call you back if they have it....but I bet they can find one. Good luck!

Thanks for the info Captain Mike I will look into finding that kit, that will save me money. I have already taken the pump apart and would like to rebuild it and get my Bird running again. Timnull
