Post Power Windows 64

My power windows in my 64 were working sporadically, either all were working or none were working. My nephew saw a spark in the passenger side front switch, so I ordered a new switch, installed it, but none of the windows work now. I've tried most of the suggestions in the repair manual, but it keeps mentioning testing the power window relay. The wiring diagram manual shows a window regulator safety switch. My question is, where is the relay located. I've searched under the hood and under the dash and I can't seem to find it. Any idea where it is and what it looks like?

Power Window Relay is mounted on the top center of the firewall in the engine compartment. With ignition key in "ACC" position, all three relay wires must show 12v to feed 12v to the window switches on the console. If all 3 relay wires show 12v, test for 12v on each brass piece that connects the center screws on the 4 console switches.

That's what the wiring book says, too, but I still can't seem to find it. Is it obvious or hidden under something? This car was wired to allow the windows to operate with the ignition off. Any idea how this was done? I have located what looks to be a regulator near the fuse box. Any idea what this is? Thanks

Sorry Ralph--CORRECTION the "Fordman" eMailed me to say Ford buried the 64 Power Window Relay on the passenger side of the firewall in the engine compartment below the rubber cowl drain tube. If the 3 wires do not light up a 12v test light ( with the ignition switch in the "ON" or "ACC" position ), there is not much fix to the relay. Only thing to do is make sure there is a good Ground to the case of the Relay before testing.

I replaced the power window relay switch on my '64, and it was buried under the drain boot. One thing I might add is this, you can put the switch in upside down (as I did) and be VERY disappointed when you try to lower the window and nothing works. Fortunately I didn't ruin the relay and it occured to me that I might have put it in incorrectly. I turned it over, plugged it in and it worked fine.

IN REGARDS TO RALPHS QUESTION, AND I'VE NOTICED SEVERAL OTHER POSTS WITH THE SAME THING THAT NOBODY HAS ANSWERED, WHAT IS THE PROBLEM THAT CAUSES POWER TO THE WINDOWS WITH THE IGNITION OFF. MY '65 IS THE SAME WAY. THE WINDOWS WORK FINE, BUT IT SCARES ME THAT THE CIRCUIT IS ALWAYS HOT.

If the windows will work without the ignition on, it means the relay has been by-passed.
