This is a discussion on Paint Job Cost within the Flair Birds [1964-1966] forums, part of the Thunderbird Model Years category; Anyone ever have their 65 repainted? What did it cost for a decent paint job? Any other costs involved? Thanks....

At a very good shop, I got a quote of $4500, and that is if i were to remove all the bumpers, chrome trim, door handles, locks, everything.... They would take two full days to primer and sand and prep the car or whatever, then use high quality paint, color not making too much difference in $... Just to give you the ballparkl figure, I saw some of there cars and they are show quality almost, absolutely no orange peel at all....

Cost will vary depending on whether your car is a convertible or not. Everything's more expensive in California too due to unnecessary environmental restrictions. Generally a droptop will cost close to twice as much to repaint as a hardtop or landau.
