Question to gas or not to gas

i need to find out what size tank to use in my 1964 bird..up to march 1964 you have one size and after march 9th 1964 you have another size..finding the size for my car is now getting to be a challenge..should i ask ford ? does anyone have any light on this? being that my car came with out a gas tank i can't tell .....measurements under the car helps none being that i'm not to sure of place ment... one tank is about 37 and half ...while the other tank is 34 inches and something... i hope that this no big deal and either tank will fit propperly....any takers on this ....... i just want to my car

This may sound crazy but why not buy both tanks then return the wrong one?

2 tanks

its all about time and money...shoot, if my wife would let me i'd get both and send back the wrong..i want a new tank so they are not cheap ...time and money

wel then my friend - just buy 1 - it will be a 50/50 shot at that point... right?

yeah i'm going to get the smaller of the tanks. its the length thats different ..almost 2in.. so i can make it work...... i want to change the brake drums to disc.. any know if another year with disc will change over with a 64 without much work??

for your disc brake change - any 1970 all the way up to 1979 will be pretty much a direct bolt on.

thanks phjohnso for the info. i've always helped friends work on there cars..i'e never had a car of my own and now i do (an older classic that is)..i really appreciate the help.
