Just got my first TBird (65 HardTop)

Want to say Hello to everybody I think this is a great site with some good people. I have a few issues with my bird but the most frustrating is the power windows. My windows did'nt work so I had the motors rebuilt but now my windows go up very slow and down very fast. Is it possible the springs are my problem and if so are they available.

Have you purchased shop manuals and body assembly manuals for the car, they are a worthwhile investment? Not sure if power windows have springs, I know my 62' does not!

I replaced the seals around the windows both sides (I think you call them sail seals?) and they were tight so the windows would not go up/down if at all. I just applied lots of rubber grease to the window tracks and metal shells and whooaaa, those windows are like new now.

Your tensioner springs are not installed correctly

Graeme: The 1962 TBird should have springs same as all 1961 thru 1966. These springs are there to compensate for the weight of the window.

Springs

Thanks Harley,

when I pulled out the rear windows to fix the alignment I did not see any springs unless they are the circular springs; probably are the ones?

Windows seem to all work fine although a bit of rattling when driving with windows up.

regards Graeme
