1965 Dashboard options
Hello, I am trying to find out what my options are in replacing or repairing my dash board of my 65 hardtop.
I have thought of removing the dash, and recovering it with vinyl, but dont know if this is the best choice for me. Other options would be to find a complete replacement dash, or throw a dashmat cover on it. I have not found an any "new" replacement dash boards from any of the major Tbird parts guys yet, are they available? Also- I am fully restoring my Tbird, just looking to make it a presentable cruiser. |

Replace repair Flairbird dash
Todate, i do not believe the dash is being repop'ed. Depending on how bad your existing dash is, you may be able to recover it. The dash in the Flair birds is, for all intents, a one piece affair. I had the dash in my '66 replaced, was lucky and found a perfect dash at Desert Valley Auto Parts here in Az. It was even the correct color, Silver Mink. The pad itself was $250 and installation was also $250. You might check parts yards, both local and national, or, one of the Thunderbird parts houses such as Larry's or Dottling's Thunderbird Connection Replacing the dash pad requires removal of the console assembly, instrumentation, and possibly the windshield and front seats as well. it is fairly staightforward, but a PITA none the less. Good luck, Having a nice dash makes the driving experience all the better, since you are looking at the thing whenever you are in the car.
