Hello all,
I found a sticker under the hod of my 66 that says "Kar-Kit" Exhaust Emission. It also says that the distributor vacuum advance should be de-activated and timing requirements, etc.. Has anyone seen this before, is it a factory sticker?
Thanks

Regarding disconnecting the distributor vacuum advance line when checking the timing: on cars equipped with the Autolite 4100 carburetor, the vacuum for the distributor is "ported vacuum". That means the vacuum is picked up above the throttle plates. That also means there is no vacuum applied to the distributor during idle. Vacuum is created at the distributor only during "off idle" operation. No need to disconnect the vacuum line ! You can verify this, if you wish, by checking the vacuum or the timing with and without the vacuum line connected.

I found it to be easier to rotate the distributor while the vacuum line was dissconnected while timing. Hard lines aren't flexible. My new dist. doesn't have a hard line input on it, I switched to rubber hose. Seems to not make a difference.
