Electronic Sequential Turn Signals.
As you all know I'm having problems with my Emergency Flasher system, only the left-front light flashes when I activate the switch.
It has been suggested I ditch the THREE relays in the trunk and buy two new proper ones. The thing is: how do I go about wiring said new relays when I get them? The electronic system for my turn-signals is a Canadian product, made in Burnaby, Vancouver from what the label says. The company that made it is (from memory, the cars at the body shop) Classic Auto Wiring or some similar name. Does anybody have an e-mail address for the company or the wiring instructions for this system? I will need it to hook up the new relays when I get them. Hope somebody can help. |

There's been talk on this site before of a newer product that replaces the original electro-mechanical sequential tail-light system with a fool-proof solid-state electronic system. The replacement kit was developed originally for 67-69 Mercury Cougars but can be installed on 65-71 Tbirds also.
The "Flair Birds" section of this site has 23 pages of prior info you can page through. There's a good thread on repairing your existing sequential tail lights five pages back. Look for a post dated 5-10-2005 started by "Mrdustyman". There's also past threads on tail lights 12 & 13 pages back. If no luck here, prowl around the web for a Cougar forum and see what you can find about the solid-state upgrade/replacement kit. Good luck. |

Re First Post
I believe (now that my memory has returned!) the seguential turn-signal control in my '66 is made by Classic Auto-tonics of Bunaby in Vancouver, Canada.
Can't find anything on them on Google, seems there are several other firms of various types using the Auto-tronic name but not the one I want to contact. Any of you North-West T-bird owners know of them?? |

The guy in Vancouver, BC, Canada that you need to contact is named Gus Fortier. John Draxler at the Thunderbird Ranch sells their products and would know how to contact Gus. Visit www.tbirdranch.com and contact Mr. Draxler. He's extremely helpful and a great guy.

Thanks
Thanks for that info Captain Mike, I'll put it on hold until my '66 is back from the body shop.
I looked at the tbird ranch site and got a lot of useful info on what color each wire in the trunk is meant to be and where it should go etc. when the car's back I'll get in contact with John Draxler regarding my emergency flasher situation. |
