Post Rear Axle Bearing Removal

I blew a rear axle (wheel bearing) last weekend and when I pulled out the half shaft, only half of the bearing came with it. The other half (outer race) is stuck in the axle housing. I've already tried the slide hammer, but there's not much edge for it to grip to. Short of having a buddy bring over the cutting torch, do you all have any suggestions how to get it out?
Thanks in advance.
Bob
