New Member here and a question.

Hi, new member here... name is Jeff and I live near san francisco. Love all of your posts and your knowledge. I just got my 66 out of storage (5 years) and had the best time cruisin' round this past weekend and I can't wait for this next weekend to get the girl out and about. However to my dismay while driving this past weekend I notice a leak coming from under the dash. I am assuming it's from the heater A/C hose as the stuff coming out is coolant. So my question is: How do I get the dashboard off so I can replace, repair hose? Or if you all know a better way to fix this without having to take off the dash, I would totally like to hear it.

Thanks
Jeff

It can be done without removing the dash, if you get a 66 shop manual it tells you step by step proceedure. I have done a core replacement on my 66 with A/C and it is by no means an easy task. By all means remove the passenger seat to start out with.
Good luck.
Joe

Thanks

Thanks Joe.
Hey did we meet before? Do you own a white 66 landau? I lived in Burlingame myself for a while and had my bird in the back of the house on Chula Vista.

Removing the heater core is not really difficult. Disconnect the heater hoses under the hood. Remove the passenger side lower dash panel. (Three screws, two bolts.)
Remove the front of the heater box. (Seven? hex head screws.) If the heater core has been removed previously and the person left out the two screws close to the firewall (a really good idea!), remove two screws holding the heater core in place and pull the core. If you are first one doing the job, remove two sheet metal nuts above and below the hose connections under the hood -and push open the recirculate air door and remove four nuts around the blower wheel opening. Disconnect the hose to the recirculate air door motor and pull out the heater box. Easy enough!!
