Ford Newbie
Hi,
I just got handed a 65 hardtop that needs the engine rebuilt. I know I need headers, exhaust manifold and intake manifold, but everywhere I look the parts are classified as FE, GT, or Ford Truck parts all for the 390. My question is, which ones should I be looking for? Or how do I tell which 390 I have in my car I guess? Thank you |

The only engine offered in the 65 Tbird was the 390 FE. If you're confident the car has its original engine, then its a 390 FE by default. This engine carries the FE designation because it was designed in the late 50's to replace the Ford Y-block and would be used in both Fords (F) and Edsels (E).
