Ford Newbie

Hi,
I just got handed a 65 hardtop that needs the engine rebuilt. I know I need headers, exhaust manifold and intake manifold, but everywhere I look the parts are classified as FE, GT, or Ford Truck parts all for the 390. My question is, which ones should I be looking for? Or how do I tell which 390 I have in my car I guess?

Thank you

I meant heads. I don't think headers would fit the stock set up.

The only engine offered in the 65 Tbird was the 390 FE. If you're confident the car has its original engine, then its a 390 FE by default. This engine carries the FE designation because it was designed in the late 50's to replace the Ford Y-block and would be used in both Fords (F) and Edsels (E).

Thanks Mike! Is there any "FE" stamped on the block or something to be sure?
The true vehicle history is kind of murky...

It will have '352' cast on the front right of the block (left as you look over the radiator if it's and FE.
